History of the Russkiye Samotsvety company starts from 1912, when the Company for Development and Perfection of Lapidary and Polishing Handicraft Industry Russkiye Samotsvety was established by the order of Emperor Nikolai II. The original biography of the RS company runs back to the period of Peter the Great to the Imperial Peterhof Lapidary Mill, founded in 1721.

The company is a historical follower of the Saint Petersburg jewelry and stone carving art school of the late 19th and the early 20th centuries, including the world-wide famous firm of Carl Faberge. At the present time the Russkiye Samotsvety is one of the largest companies in Russia, producing and selling jewellery, owning a number of its own brand shops in Saint Petersburg and Moscow. The company exports its products to many countries of the world.
